I tried to send out this letter last night using a part of our database that I don’t use often. I learned this morning it did not go out. We will all need to do new things in the days ahead. They will not always work. We will learn. We will try a new way forward. Here is what I wanted to share.
I shot a video yesterday after conversations first with our Conference Ministers and secondly with our Deans. My video is in Google Drive. Click here to view, it is also posted on my Facebook profile .
Second, I will continue to share information on Facebook. If you are not on this tool, I would ask you to join or have a friend pass on things to you who is on Facebook. If you search for “ Jon Anderson Redwood Falls ” you will find me. There is a group for our synod’s leaders. Search with this phrase “ Southwestern Minnesota Synod Rostered MInisters/TEEM/SAM Group ” If you have not joined, send me a request or an email. After you make me a Facebook friend, I will add you into the closed group.
Third, the virus has been found in the St. Cloud area and in Renville County. We are seeing a lag of a couple of days from when I first hear of a likely case and confirmation across our synod. This is happening because people are testing for confirmation. This Coronavirus update link gets you to the publically reported cases and location. As testing increases we expect cases to increase.

Fourth, here are some key documents that speak to responding to this virus. The first is short and the second long.

Fifth, this is a great time to be working with your neighboring pastors as you make plans. We will start having Zoom check in calls in the days ahead. We are working on the details.
Finally, here is a web site that will get you a variety of resources like the prayer that follows. www.elca.org/publichealth

God, our peace and our strength, we pray for our nation and the world as we face new
uncertainties around coronavirus. Protect the most vulnerable among us, especially all
who are currently sick or in isolation. Grant wisdom, patience, and clarity to health care
workers, especially as their work caring for others puts them at great risk. Guide us as we
consider how best to prepare and respond in our families, congregations, workplaces, and
communities. Give us courage to face these days not with fear but with compassion,
concern, and acts of service, trusting that you abide with us always;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
