I want to lift up the importance of finding ways to let your key leaders – paid staff and key lay leaders who are not paid – know that the congregation is thankful for the gifts God has given them and for the ways they are stewarding those gifts to serve the Gospel.
A few weeks ago, the Church Council and quilters surprised the staff of Faith Lutheran in a way that they will remember. They presented stoles for all of them which carried symbols of who they are and their unique roles. It was a nice way of lifting up the fact that they are all ministers in their baptism.
As you can see on the faces, the surprise was sheer grace and will be remembered for years.
I am curious about other ways to express appreciation to key leaders in our congregation. There are other stories that should be told.
